My Definition of Groove

Quenum

Engineroom
ER13 | 2024-04-05
A lover of music in all its forms, Quenum has an established 30-year career
and has gained the respect of techno pioneers as well as the following of the
younger generation. When he settled in London in the 90s he started
working with Paulo Nascimento.
In 1997 they released their first EP on Pacific Records and Access 58 was born. They went on to release over 30 EPs on their own eponymous label as well as others.

In 2001 Quenum moved to Switzerland where he met Luciano. Together they composed "Orange Mistake" which launched their Cadenza label.
Quenum eventually continued solo on his path for the perfect beat. Others have called it "elegant", "warm" and "deep".

Over the next decade he released groovy techno on labels
including Crosstown Rebels, Cocoon, Transmat, fabric and Get Physical, as well
as playing clubs all over the world. From 2013 to 2019 Quenum worked in
partnership with Cesare vs Disorder. Together as Azimute they toured Asia,
Australia and South America, while releasing on Serialism.

Quenum is known as one of the friendliest faces in techno, which explains
why he loves collaborating with his brothers-and-sisters-in-arms. Here, it's
with Engineroom's own Paris the Black FU (Detroit Grand PuBahs) on opening
track "My Definition of Groove", which is backed by "I Never Give Up".
Let's hope he never does.
