REKIDSVS003 | 2014-01-06
The third in a series of mini compilations where
Rekids look back at where they knocked heads with artists across the globe. This collaborative locking of horns focuses on the United States – the land of fast food, Hollywood and a curious obsession with ‘EDM’ despite the rich musical heritage. But we’re not here to be sanctimonious, this here is merely a package celebrating our preferred Electronic Dance Music artists from across the pond. Josh Wink and Carl Craig (appearing here in his C2 guise) hardly need an introduction, the former bringing his distinct acid techno tinge to Radio Slave’s ‘Screaming Hands’ and the latter transforming ‘Heartbreak Theme’ into the epic soundtrack to a film yet to be made. Not normally associated with House or Techno, the State of Georgia is heavily represented on this release – with the mysterious Jjak Hogan’s rough and ready ‘Optifreeze’, and Atlanta-raised Tedd Patterson’s awkwardly named remix of Rekids classic ‘Brooklyn Club Jam’. Someone has to fly the flag for Chicago of course, and emerging artist Amir Alexander of Vanguard Sound duly obliges.
