'12 Tribes E.P.' is United People of Zion's debut on LAY. The four track EP includes two very different songs showcasing UPZ's multifaceted musical background inspired by Soul, Zion and the African continent. "Prayer 4 Me" features the smooth soulful vocals of Tony G and has 2 mixes. UPZ's original is a driving and uplifting soulful rendition with a dope mid-section trumpet solo and gospel inspired lyrics. JUKE JOINT turn in the slammin "All Around the World" Remix which utilizes a thumping peak time beat and hypnotic use of the vocal. The second song on the EP is a driving voodoo house track called "Mr Manna" which sees Patrick G (Haiti) churning tribal-esque vocals with a cameo vox appearance by Theo Lawson from Ghana - combine this with afro highlife guitar, calypso drums & synth stabs and you get a raw afro-carib combo with pure dancefloor appeal. The Dub hardens the sound just a bit, with more of a driving bassline and synth. The tracks lyrics are based on Haitian creole proverbs such as "Ou konn kouri, ou pa konn kache" meaning "You know how to run, but you don't know how to hide."
