GHOST OF THE CUMBIA

Deela

Shango Records
SHNG005 | 2016-06-10
Born in the dark streets of Cairo, grown to the unforgettable forests of Santa Esmeralda, spending its teen years in Bombay and Tangier markets, mature into the deep spacey Jungle of Ghana we proudly present you a new label from the land of the pyramids: SHANGO RECORDS invites you to an unheard world music psychedelic trip: like through a colouful kaleidoscope we will melt down Indian and Pakistani Vibes, Afro-Beat rhythms n' pieces, Cumbia Tropicana flavors and cosmic Ghetto-Latin vibes into forbidden sounds of frenzied electronic dancefloor rituals. Outside traditional paths these driving grooves and polyphonic structures take the adventure seeking dancer to Dionysian highs and places never been before.

DEELA the man that shirts are blinding is back! As then, Cumbia carries the swing. This single is full of the ghost: ghost-lovers, ghost souls and especially ghost cumbia's. For Deela, the ghost is able to see, to pine and to travel. His body, transformed, wander high seas, disturbed graves, dangerous cities. Clutching guns, cigarettes, buttocks and angels, characters stumble through an indifferent world. In these nonrepresentational places (places a lot like Curacao, Veracruz, Colombia, Peru) the world is bad, dirty and groovy. Yet there is also desire. Yearning is repeatedly-signaled by the color red, a fecund backdrop for many scenes: Mecaya river, red water, red swamp snake, red blood, red coffins. Deela's music, hypnotic, exotic, strives for sensual death while COCOTAXI and LARRY SKG left behind Tropicana nights for a pure stylish “Dembow in outta space” elixir......the Ghost of Cumbia is here.....the best are yet to come!
