Subset is back with his second full-length release for Greyscale. In 2021, his first album for the label, 'This Quiet Earth' got great reviews from fans of this talented artist. Now, 'Ambient Particles' expands upon those great cinematic expeditions. Subset is a masterful producer whose naming of tracks always gives a great overview of what you can expect to feel or be transported to. Tracks like 'Sandstorm on Mars' and 'Cocooned Under the Stars' are perfect examples of that. Ones that take the idea of field recording and successfully push them to a higher level. 'Dust in the Droid' is a fantastic darker interlude that shows his talent at creating soundtrack level ambience. 'Sitting in a Room' is a beautiful and haunting piece while the title track is the most dub techno oriented track yet on this sprawling album. The pacing of this album is particularly noteworthy. 'Auteur' is another gem that houses a poignant and magical melody within its rhythms'. Armchair listening could not get much better than 'Ambient Particles'. Verging on a subconscious experience, accompanying meditation and sleep are other ideal applications for these wonderful voyages. Lastly, 'No Service after Midnight' is a breathtaking way to end this album. You can always count on Subset to create a truely stunning and accurate atmosphere in his compositions.
