DATABASS RECORDS

Databass spawned from sister label Twilght 76. As the electro-bass scene expanded label owners DJ Godfather, Brian Gillespie aka Starrski and DJ Dick decided that this new sound needed its own label, and so Databass came about to focus on a new form of electro with speeded up beats, sexual lyrics (similar to the likes of the influential 2 Live Crew), a more street ghetto style: booty !The style has produced various names such as Ghetto-Tech, Accelerated Funk as well as Electro-Bass, and Booty appealing more to 'battle' style DJs using the records for only a brief amount of time (sometimes only seconds) to cut, scratch and generally show the mixing and turntable skills of the DJ - turntablists.
